Please pray!

Posted by Tim on Jun-21-2008

Nothing urgent, but Ellie has been sick with a really bad cough since Tuesday and had a slight fever for three days. She is still coughing a lot. I’m feeling like I’m fighting it. It could make for a most unpleasant drive up to Michigan this week! Please pray that Ellie will get over this before we leave Monday and that the rest of us won’t catch it. Thanks!

Small details

Whenever anyone goes on a recording trip everything needs to be planned out very throughly. Every last cable, cord and connector must be accounted for, tested, and packed. Here is what it looked like while we were testing and packing.

Testing the gear

Both tables of equipment are what we are taking.

We have to think of ALL the details. For instance where we are going it’s 220 volts and the plugs are supposed to be 4.8 millimeter dual round prongs. But we know from previous trips that the regulations aren’t always followed everywhere in the country and so we are taking 4.0 millimeter prongs as well. It wouldn’t do if we couldn’t plug in!

4 and 4.8 millimeter plugs

So we have checked and packed everything now and done a sample recording on each computer just to be sure. This gets the thumbs up from my travel partner, John.
Ready to go

Michigan marching bands!

Posted by Tim on Dec-31-2007

We went to the citrus parade on Saturday. Since both Michigan and Michigan Sate just happen to be down here for bowl games at the same time both bands were in the parade.

The band from University of Florida finished off the parade since they are the UofM opponents in the Capitol One Bowl on New Years Day. What are the chances that both Michigan teams and UF (my hometown team to route for (but not for this game!)) would all be in the same place at the same time in the same parade? Pretty neat. I do have to say that Michigan State was an awesome band and U of M was right up with them. Florida was definitely second rate, more like a large all state high school band. Not in the same league at all.

Back Home

We arrived back safe and sound this afternoon. It’s 98 and humid. That’s more like it! We were starting to be afraid that Detroit would make us week and we’d go all limpy in the heat. It’s good to be home!

I think I spent pretty much the entire two weeks talking. It was great to see so many old friends, but honestly I don’t want to hear my own voice for a couple of days.

Back From Colorado

We’re back home in Florida but will be leaving again on the first of August for Detroit. We’re in the process of making our schedule and as it fleshes out we’ll post it so you know where we will be and when we’ll be there. In the mean time we’ve got some laundry to do and unpacking and repacking. If you’re in the Detroit area we hope we will see you soon!
