The JESUS Film Project
No one should have to learn another language to find out how to spend eternity with God. That’s the guiding premise of The JESUS Film Project. The JESUS Film Project distributes the film “JESUS,” a two-hour docudrama on the life of Christ taken from the gospel of Luke. Its goal is to show the gospel to those who have no other means of exposure to it in a language that they can easily understand.
Some numbers…
- 142: how many people die every hour of every day without a verse of scripture in their native language
- 50%: those who couldn’t read it even if it did exist
- 500: areas of the world with a population of at least one million people with no known Christians, no churches, no exposure to the gospel

more numbers…
- 1050+: languages that the film “JESUS” has been translated into
- over 6 billion: viewings of the original film since 1979
- all of them: countries where the original film has been shown
- more than 1500: missions agencies and denominations which use the “JESUS” film
and most importantly:
- more than 200,000: indicated decisions for Christ as a result of the film
Along with the original “JESUS” film, The JESUS Film Project also produces and distributes other evangelistic programs including an audio version of the original film, a children’s version (”The Story of JESUS for Children“), and versions that seek to meet the needs of specific cultural groups. There’s even an anime project in the works!
